Hello Everyone,

Thanks for checking out my new site. We’ve changed the photos and colors and will be adding a pre-order link for my new album in the very near future.

Plans are really starting to shape up for releasing this new record. I’m really excited for everyone to hear it. Like most good things, it’s been a ton of work; but I’m really happy with the result. Lots of talented co-writers and many great musicians/friends bringing their personality to the songs.

The first single will be coming out early January, full record on February 24th. Stay tuned for info about some advance spins on select radio stations.

Please visit and LIKE my new Facebook musician page to keep up to date with everything that’s going on: @ianjanesmusic I’ve produced a bunch of short video trailers about the process of making the record and will be sharing them regularly in the coming weeks.

Links to my Youtube channel, Twitter and Instagram are at the top of this page. Please visit and follow to keep in touch. You can always email me if you have any questions…or just want to say hello. All of the albums are available on iTunes and CD Baby.

Thanks for stopping by,

“…..a tremendous, soulful effort”

biophoto2014Ian Janes is a singer, songwriter and guitarist with soul. Drawing from years of experience across all genres of music, his songs have depth and relevance, performed with effortless musicality.

Janes’ debut recording, Occasional Crush, was released in the fall of 1998. The critical praise came almost immediately. Maclean’s magazine named him one of 100 Canadians to watch. He performed on the nationally televised East Coast Music Awards show in 2000 and was nominated for three awards.

Janes continued his pattern of success with his second offering, As It Seems (2002). It was nominated for two East Coast Music Awards, named Record of the Year by Music Nova Scotia, and featured in Thom Fitzgerald’s internationally acclaimed film, The Event. As It Seems featured Janes’ clever layered guitars, top notch songs and heavy grooves from guest drummer Omar Hakim (David Bowie, Sting, Miles Davis).

After a few years off to write and start a family, Janes released another collection of impeccably crafted songs. Piece of Mine (2010) is a close musical snapshot of Janes’ rich, seasoned voice, distinctive guitar playing, and beautiful writing. A live performance of the record was recorded as part of CBC Halifax’s Studio H Sessions and broadcast nationally on the CBC radio program, Canada Live. Music from Piece of Mine was also featured in CBC-TV drama, North/South and the Anchor Bay Entertainment picture, Hiding.

Ian is performing regularly and writing material for a new record. He is currently making regular trips to Toronto, Los Angeles and Nashville to co-write. Trips to LA in spring of 2016 saw him co- write several songs with Andy Stochansky (Goo Goo Dolls, Shannon Noll, Eden’s Edge) and Jamie Hartman (Joss Stone, Natalie Imbruglia, Christina Aguilera). In March of 2015 Janes travelled to Nashville to write with Byron Hill (Ray Charles, George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Dionne Warwick) and John Capek (Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Isaac Hayes).

Janes’ fourth album will be released in early 2017.
